Under the Government Regulation No. 60 of 2008, BPKP is having a function to be a government internal auditor which is responsible directly to the President and undertaking duties as follow :

A. Conducting internal supervisory over the state financial accountability over certain activities, include :

1. Cross sectoral activities
2. State General Treasury Activities based on stipulation of Ministry of Finance as a State General Treasurer
3. Other activities based on President Instructions

B. Reviewing central government financial report prior submitted by Ministry of Finance to President

C. Fostering the implementation of government Internal Control System

Beside these main duties, BPKP is also having a duty to be a quality assurer on bureucration reform which has been undertaking by Indonesian government.
